What Driveline offers, and why people look elsewhere

Driveline Baseball is several products in one: coached training in its gyms in Kent, Scottsdale and Tampa or remotely, the Pulse throwing sensor, the TRAQ athlete management platform, the Driveline Training app for its athletes, and the DrivelinePLUS education membership. Its high school page says "your trainer turns the assessment into daily programming in the app," delivered through Driveline Roadmap, with Smart Reports, Intended Zones and Trainer Chat.

People search for Driveline Baseball alternatives for practical reasons: they cannot get to a facility, coached training prices are not published, they want a self-directed plan instead of a trainer, or they only need one piece, such as workload tracking. The useful question is which part of Driveline you are trying to replace. This page answers that one need at a time.

Disclosure

This page is written by Pitch AI, and Pitch AI is one of the alternatives listed. Pitch AI's founder, Anthony Osnacz, is a former Driveline Baseball high performance coach. Pitch AI is not affiliated with Driveline. We have tried to describe Driveline and every other company the way they describe themselves, with facts checked on October 7, 2026.

01

Coached training

Alternatives to a Driveline trainer

Tread Athletics is the closest like-for-like option. It describes itself as "the world's largest 1:1 remote coaching service for pitchers," matches athletes with one of "over four-dozen" coaches, and asks for a 12-month commitment with a one-time assessment fee. Pricing is not published. It works with high school, college and professional athletes.

TopVelocity offers a $99 per month (or $997 per year) player platform that includes direct messaging with founder Brent Pourciau, plus remote training ($1,497) and in-person camps in Covington, Louisiana.

4APP Sports puts its more personal coaching in higher tiers, with Triple-A at $549 per month and a Pro tier at $2,999 for 3 months, per the App Store listing.

Best for a human coach

Tread Athletics for 1:1 remote coaching; TopVelocity if you want a velocity-focused system with access to its founder.

Best if you can travel

Driveline itself. In-gym assessments and training are hard to replace.

02

Self-directed programming

Alternatives to Driveline's app-delivered plan

If you do not need a trainer, an app can build and adjust the plan for much less.

  • Pitch AI ($2.99 per week, $6.99 per month or $69.99 per year on the web; iOS in-app: $3.99, $9.99 or $99.99). Pitch AI builds a personalized throwing and strength program from your age, level, years pitching, recent pitch counts, available days, equipment, season phase and goal, adjusts each day with a readiness check-in, and tracks an acute:chronic workload ratio from the throws you log. It also includes AI video analysis of mechanics, pitch design with CSV import, a pitch grip library, nutrition tracking and Coach View. No human coach and no sensor.
  • 4APP Sports (Double-A $99 per month or $900 per year). Throwing programs that adjust to daily readiness scores, strength and conditioning, and AI coaching, per its listing.
  • Ace Pitcher - Log & Routine ($19.99 per month or $99.99 per year). A lifting and throwing program built around a velocity goal, with an arm readiness score that uses Apple Health data. Apple devices only.
  • TopVelocity ($99 per month). 15+ structured programs and a 600+ exercise library on web and iOS.
Best for lowest monthly cost

Pitch AI, with published pricing and Android support.

Best for a big-name system

4APP or TopVelocity, at a higher price.

03

Workload measurement

Alternatives to the Pulse sensor

Pulse ($245) is worn on the forearm and measures every throw, reporting Pulse Arm Speed and Pulse Torque. Nothing else on this page measures per-throw arm stress the same way, so if that is what you need, Pulse is still the tool. Note that on October 7, 2026, Driveline's Pulse Compression Sleeve ($24) was listed as sold out in every size.

  • ArmCare ($299 assessment package) measures something different: a 60-second test with a handheld sensor for arm strength, range of motion and readiness, and its SPEAR Training adjusts throwing and training from the results. See Pitch AI vs ArmCare.
  • Pitch AI estimates workload from the throws, intent and session type you log, and its plan responds to the ratio automatically. It does not measure arm stress.
  • ArmTrack is a free log for throws, pain, soreness and stiffness with an estimated readiness score.
  • Try our free pitching workload calculator if you just want to check a ratio by hand.
Best measured data

Pulse for throw workload; ArmCare for strength and fatigue testing.

Best with no hardware

Pitch AI, where the logged ratio changes tomorrow's plan.

04

Mechanics

Alternatives to a Driveline mechanics assessment

A marker-based lab is the most precise way to measure a delivery. Video tools are cheaper and more accessible but are not the same thing.

  • Mustard: Pitching analyzes phone video using Dr. Tom House's teaching and prescribes drills. Its FAQ says a full assessment needs front and side views.
  • PitchAI by ProPlayAI measures kinematics from smartphone or high-speed video; coaches $99 per month or $999 per year, players $99 per year for 100 pitches per month. (Not related to Pitch AI; see our note on the names.)
  • Pitch AI analyzes a short clip of one pitch and returns strengths, areas to work on, phase findings and priority drills, exportable as a PDF.
  • TopVelocity lists MechanicsDNA video biomechanics in its platform.
05

Team platforms

Alternatives to TRAQ

TRAQ is Driveline's athlete management platform with integrations for a long list of baseball technologies, and Driveline does not publish its price. For a facility running many devices, that breadth is a real advantage.

Pitch AI's Coach View is narrower and pitching-specific: rosters, program templates, a team calendar, read-only athlete wellness and logs, and an acute:chronic trend for each pitcher, at a published $209.99 per year for 12 pitchers, $419.99 for 25 or $699.99 for 50 on the web ($299.99, $599.99 or $1,000 in the iOS app).

06

Education

Alternatives to DrivelinePLUS

DrivelinePLUS is already inexpensive at $99 per year, so many people keep it alongside another tool. TopVelocity sells individual digital programs from $97 to $497. Our own research blog and free programs cost nothing.

Our take

Which alternative fits you

Stay with Driveline if...

  • You can train in person or want a Driveline trainer remotely.
  • You want every throw measured with Pulse.
  • You run a facility that needs TRAQ's integrations.

Choose an alternative if...

  • You want a 1:1 remote coach with a different approach (Tread).
  • You want a self-directed plan with published pricing (Pitch AI, Ace Pitcher, 4APP).
  • You only need one piece, such as strength testing (ArmCare) or mechanics video (Mustard).

Frequently asked questions

Driveline Baseball alternatives FAQs

What is the best Driveline Baseball alternative?

It depends on what you want to replace. For 1:1 coaching, Tread Athletics is the closest match. For a self-directed daily plan, apps such as Pitch AI, 4APP or Ace Pitcher. For measured arm strength and readiness, ArmCare. Nothing replaces Pulse's per-throw torque measurement exactly.

Is there a cheaper alternative to Driveline training?

Driveline does not publish coached training prices, so a direct comparison is hard. App-based plans publish their prices: Pitch AI is $6.99 per month or $69.99 per year on the web ($9.99 or $99.99 in the iOS app), Ace Pitcher is $19.99 per month, and TopVelocity's platform is $99 per month, as of October 2026.

Can I use Driveline Pulse with another training app?

Yes, but most apps do not sync with Pulse. Pitch AI does not import Pulse data as of October 2026. If you wear Pulse and follow another plan, pick one system as your source of truth, because the two will calculate workload differently.

Is Pitch AI made by Driveline?

No. Pitch AI is published by Global Dominance LLC and has no affiliation with Driveline Baseball. Its founder previously worked at Driveline as a high performance coach.
