How we compared them

A measurement system and a planning app

ArmCare and Pitch AI overlap less than their categories suggest. ArmCare is built around a sensor that measures your arm. Pitch AI is built around a plan for your whole week. Instead of a single winner, each section below says which one fits a specific need, and the last section explains how some pitchers use both.

Disclosure

Pitch AI wrote this comparison and makes one of the two products. ArmCare details come from armcare.com and its App Store listing, checked on October 7, 2026. Pitch AI details come from the current app code and US App Store pricing.

01

What gets measured

Sensor testing vs check-ins and logs

ArmCare uses a handheld strength sensor (the Activforce 2). Its site describes "a 60-second test" that reveals "your strength, range of motion and readiness," and the app tracks fatigue across training cycles. That is objective data that a phone alone cannot collect.

Pitch AI does not measure strength, range of motion or arm stress. It relies on a daily check-in (readiness 1 to 5, soreness, pain and sleep) and the throws, intent and session type you log, from which it calculates an acute:chronic workload ratio.

Best for measured arm data

ArmCare. A repeatable strength and range-of-motion test is its core strength.

Best for no hardware

Pitch AI. Check-ins and logged workload, with no device to buy.

02

Arm care programming

How each one decides today's work

ArmCare's SPEAR Training "adjusts your throwing and training based on how your arm responds every day," according to its site, and its App Store listing says it delivers personalized arm care programs that target weak points.

In Pitch AI, arm care is one part of a full program. Sessions can include arm care work alongside catch play, long toss, plyo work, pulldowns, bullpens and strength training, and the readiness check-in changes that day's volume and intensity.

Best for test-driven arm care

ArmCare, because the prescription follows the measurements.

Best for arm care inside a full plan

Pitch AI, where arm care sits next to throwing and lifting.

03

Throwing, strength and velocity

Beyond arm care

Pitch AI builds the whole week: a personalized throwing program from your age, level, recent pitch counts, schedule, equipment, season phase and goal, a strength and conditioning program, AI video analysis of mechanics, pitch design with TrackMan and Rapsodo CSV import, a pitch grip library and nutrition tracking. After a logged game it applies Pitch Smart rest days for the pitcher's age.

ArmCare's focus is the arm: testing, readiness and arm care, with throwing and training adjusted by its SPEAR system. It does not advertise mechanics analysis, pitch design or nutrition tools.

Best for arm-focused athletes

ArmCare.

Best for the whole training week

Pitch AI.

04

Teams

Team use

ArmCare says it is used by "20+ MLB teams," 500+ training facilities, 300+ high schools and 280+ colleges, and calls itself the "Official Partner of Perfect Game USA." Those are ArmCare's own figures.

Pitch AI's Coach View gives coaches rosters, program templates, a team calendar, read-only athlete wellness and logs, and an acute:chronic trend for each pitcher, with every roster seat including full athlete access.

Using them together

Can you use ArmCare and Pitch AI at the same time?

Yes, with a caveat. The two do not integrate, so nothing syncs. A pitcher could test with ArmCare and treat a drop in strength or a fatigue reading as one more input to Pitch AI's daily check-in. Because both can adjust throwing, decide which one sets the throwing plan so you are not following two programs at once.

Frequently asked questions

Pitch AI vs ArmCare FAQs

Is ArmCare worth it?

ArmCare is worth considering if you want measured arm strength, range of motion and fatigue data, which an app cannot collect on its own. It costs $299 for the sensor package as of October 2026 and holds a 4.9 App Store rating from 2,991 ratings.

What is a good ArmCare alternative without a sensor?

If you do not want hardware, a planning app with daily readiness check-ins and workload tracking, such as Pitch AI, is an alternative approach rather than an exact replacement. Armored Heat offers an arm care program, and ArmTrack is a free readiness log.

Does Pitch AI measure arm strength or arm stress?

No. Pitch AI does not measure strength, range of motion, velocity or arm stress. It uses daily check-ins and the throws you log to estimate workload and adjust the plan.

Can I use ArmCare and Pitch AI together?

Yes, but they do not sync. Use ArmCare's test results as context for your daily check-in, and choose one of the two to set your throwing plan.

No sensor required

Plan the whole week around your arm

Pitch AI builds a personalized throwing and strength program from your age, level, years pitching, recent pitch counts, available days, equipment, season phase and goal, adjusts each day with a readiness check-in, and tracks an acute:chronic workload ratio from the throws you log. It also includes AI video analysis of mechanics, pitch design with CSV import, a pitch grip library, nutrition tracking and Coach View. Free to download on iPhone, iPad and Android.
